Raisn' hope for survivors of traumatic brain and spinal cord injury

If anyone has not seen the French movie The Diving Bell and the Butterfly? I normally do not like sad movies but it's portrayal of what it is like to wake up from a coma and have a brain injury is very real. For us brain injury survivors this movie hits close to home.

Hi Saul,

Just watching the trailer was tough enough and evoked some strong emotions. I will see if I can get my hands on a copy and take a look. It may be tougher on my wife to watch it than for me. She had to endure more of the anguish in the early stages than I did. Heck, I did not have a care in the world; she had the weight of the world on her shoulders though.

We watched the movie with Saul and it brought back some sad memories. It is a good movie for insight to TBI.
Not the best entertainment but good for education of TBI.

Talk about hitting close to home - I started to watch the DVD on my own and had to turn it off and call a friend to keep me company while I watched it. It's an amazing story of triumph over adversity in the way Jean-Dom defined his triumph.

Tracked down an English translation of the book. It's even better than the movie. Grateful to be able to read a book again.

I read the book as part of an assignment while in a neuro-physical therapy class back in 2001. I recommend the book to students every year.
